What People Have Shared

David Lorrimer

British expat, Phuket

"I had documents in four different places — a safe, a filing cabinet, a shared cloud folder, and honestly a few envelopes I hadn't opened properly. Margaret helped me sort it into something sensible. The contents index alone has been worth it several times over since."

Thai national, Phuket Town

"My mother passed last year and we spent two weeks finding basic documents. I did not want my children to go through the same. The workshop gave me a clearer picture of the general process than I had managed to piece together on my own. I wish I had done it sooner."

Robert & Karen Ashford

Australian couple, Rawai

"We went through the Handover Planning Programme as a family with our son who lives in Bangkok. Priya kept the sessions moving without rushing anyone. By the end, everyone knew exactly where things were and who to call. It felt like a weight lifted."

"We have records in both Thailand and Japan and were not sure who could help us make sense of what we needed to keep and where. Vaultline was very clear about what they could and couldn't help with, which I appreciated. The vault setup was straightforward and they referred us to a good notary for the next step."

"The workshop was in plain English and covered the kind of background I needed before speaking to a lawyer. I did not know what questions to ask before. Afterwards I had a much better idea. The handout is something I still refer to. Good value for the peace of mind it brought."

"Three siblings with different opinions about everything — that is our family. Priya managed to keep the sessions calm and focused. She did not take sides, just kept asking the right questions. By the third session we had agreed on things we had not discussed in years. The handover document is now in everyone's hands."

Client Stories

The Situation

A retired couple from the UK, resident in Phuket for eight years, had important records in a home safe, on a laptop, and in a filing folder in their UK solicitor's office. They were not sure what they had in total or what might be missing. Their adult son had no knowledge of where anything was.

What Vaultline Did

Two sessions: the first to map and sort what existed across all locations; the second to create a labelled digital folder structure mirroring the physical safe. A printed contents index was produced with notes on what was held where and by whom.

The Outcome

The son now has a copy of the contents index and knows what to ask for and where to find it. Three gaps in the records were identified and the couple are now working with their UK solicitor to address them. Total time: two half-day sessions over one week.

"It sounds simple but we had never actually done it. Having someone help us see what was there — and what was not — was exactly what we needed."

The Situation

A Thai woman in her fifties, recently widowed, needed to understand what steps generally lay ahead in administering her husband's affairs. She had spoken to two different people who had given her different, confusing descriptions of the process.

What Vaultline Did

A private workshop session — just her and a Vaultline facilitator — covering the general Thai estate process landscape, key bodies involved, and the types of documentation usually required. The printed resource directory was supplemented with Thai-language official source links.

The Outcome

She left with a clearer picture of the landscape and a list of questions to put to her lawyer at the next appointment. The confusion between the two earlier accounts was resolved once she understood the general structure. Session: one half-day.

"I came in confused and left with a map. It is still not simple, but I understood where I was standing."

The Situation

A family of four adults — parents in their seventies in Phuket, plus two adult children in Bangkok and Singapore — wanted to agree on a plan for the handover of records and contacts, but had never found a way to have the conversation that did not feel difficult or rushed.

What Vaultline Did

Three sessions over four weeks, including one held online to include the Singapore sibling. A structured agenda kept the conversation on practical matters. The facilitator helped the family agree on a shared contact list and record location, with each member assigned a clear role.

The Outcome

A printed handover document, signed off by all four participants, is now held by each family member. Two gaps in insurance documentation were noted and are being resolved. The family reported that the sessions gave them a structure for a conversation they had previously avoided.

"Having Priya in the room made it easier. She kept things practical. We left with something written down that everyone had agreed to."
